The Thrill That Kills Street racing has become a very dangerous sport in the 20th century. In the article The Thrill That Kills by Paul-Mark Rendon, he describes the dangers and consequences of illegal street racing. This article was published Sept. 17, 2001 in MacLean’s. This is an article that tries to reach out to street racers and also anyone interested in knowing more about street racing and its dangers. The article discusses how for the driver, racing is an exciting adrenaline rush, but for the people, is an endangerment to their safety. The author uses facts like how dozens of innocent people have died due to street racing. Even drivers themselves die because of losing control or hitting another car. This article makes readers think twice about wanting to go out on the streets and race. This article gives evidence that street racing is very dangerous. The author gives clear evidence to support his topic that illegal street racing is dangerous. Racing on a public road can have many variables that can lead to the worst. Some of these variables are that â€Å"where unexpected traffic, uneven roads and inexperienced drivers, some as young as 16, form a deadly combination.† The author tells how an innocent person walking across the street, was hit by one of three cars racing that were traveling approximately 200 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The body was thrown 80 meters and died before he hit the ground. â€Å"In Vancouver alone, police count six fatalities from street racing in the past year.† Mark uses this information to get his point through to the readers because people are most affected when they hear about other people dying. Paul- Mark explains how driving experience on the streets is very low. Hardly any of the... ...there. Paul-Mark tells how the Darknights are a good cause, but â€Å"there’s always going to be a situation where there’s heated argument and no one wants to waste their time and say, ‘We’ll settle this at the racetrack.’ We’ll pick a road, we’ll do it for this much and then we’ll go home.† This makes the reader realize how even though street racers are aware of the tremendous dangers of street racing and have a legal way to do it, they still would rather put people’s lives at risk and race on the streets. Although this article appeals to common sense the most, Paul-Mark’s claims are obvious with very good example to back those claims up. Readers get the full picture of what is really going down in the street racing scene and how the dangers continue to exist. Paul-Mark has strong appeals and emotions throughout this paper that keeps readers hooked the entire time.

Texts are written in a way for it to appeal to the responders. The Author uses many different techniques, themes and chooses a writing style so that it can appeal to the audience. This is evident In the novel We All Fall Down' In which the author, Robert Cornier, tries to appeal to the audience. This can be achieved also by making the text relatable for responders and certain concepts wealth the book. Crosier's use of themes In the book Is one of the things which appeals to readers. He focuses on relationships and especially family relationships.It is obvious that Cornier believes hat family and family values are very important and this theme is frequent throughout the novel. The theme of family defines the book as Cornier shows that holds together can withstand anything such as with the Jerome family, however with the Walker family, the members have fallen apart and have deteriorated. This is meant to appeal to responders as they can relate to the sense of family within the book, wh ether theirs has fallen apart or clung together as there are examples of both within the novel.The theme of relationships also can help the novel appeal to spenders as they can associate it with the relationships they share with others. The novel explores many examples of both barnacles and relationships between people and this appeals to responders and they can associate the novel with their own lives. The opening of a book Is an Important part of making a text appeal to responders. The first scene hooks the reader with suspense as we read of the trashing and makes them aware of the violence of the text. Violent verbs are used to reinforce this theme and begin the idea of trashing and violence.This theme reoccurs throughout the evolve. The theme is brought up again when the details of the trashing come up again and again and the trashing becomes a large part of the text and the actions of the characters as it is not only the house that has been trashed but the characters themselves . The way the text hooks the readers from the start is one of the ways it appeals to the readers and what keeps them reading on. The appearance of certain characters can help texts appear to more people. Without the addition of ‘The Avenger' or Mackey ‘Loony' as he Is later known, the novel would be more of a mantic novel than the thriller It became.The Avenger adds a sense of mystery and thrills to the book as we learn of his murderous way. This transition caused the book to not only appeal to those seeking a book with romance, but one with action too. Without the addition of several minor characters the story would be completely different and wouldn't appeal to as many responders or to such a variety of responders as it does. The use of language can change how a text appeals to readers or responders. Cornier does an excellent Job of using the right kind of language wrought the text We All Fall Down. The use of colloquial language as well as having the occasional use of vulgar language helps his novels appeal to responders, especially youths as they can relate the language used throughout the text. The text doesn't specify separate chapters, keeping text flowing between characters as It changes the first person. Narration and the use of the right language helps the book to be better understood by responders and the different points of view provide enough variety to keep the book interesting which in turn helps the text to be moreWe All Fall Down' Imagery is used to assist the reader in being able to picture everything in the book, proving to be a delightful experience for the responder. Rhetorical questions such as ‘but I didn't help the girl did l? Are used to make the reader think about situations and similes help further describe concepts and feelings in the text for example, when the way Buddy feels is ‘like a giant mallet hitting a gong inside him' and repetition provides emphasis, e. G. ‘l don't want you in the house, don't want you in my life'.And so in conclusion, qualities such as themes of family and relationships, addition of characters, techniques and language as well as a relatable text helps the text to appeal to responders. Cornier acknowledges this fact and integrates these into his works and so his works appeal to responders of many types. This is what makes the text We All Fall Down' appealing to responders as they feel a connection with the text and understand it and the motives behind the actions of the characters. Ezra Pound in the Imagist Movement In the beginning of the 20th century, a poetry style called Imagism was growing. Imagism is derived from Modernism and was created in response to Romanticism. Contrary to Romanticism, Imagist poems consist of brief sentences of dry clarity which painted an exact visual image and poetic statement. His second, â€Å"The Personae of Ezra Pound†, was published in London in 1909 and was immediately acclaimed by critics. Pound wrote more than seventy books, contributed to seventy others, and published more than 1,500 articles. Being an Imagist, Pound had many strict rules to his style of writing. One of which he stressed lyricism and was selective in use of words. A lyrical poem is â€Å"strongly marked by imagination, melody, and emotion, and creates a single, unified impression† (Holman, 1986, p. 283). Pound, as well as all other Imagist poets followed other rules such as using direct treatment of the ‘thing’ whether subjective or objective, using absolutely no word that does not contribute to the presentation, and as regarding rhythm: to compose in the sequence of the musical phrase, not in sequence of a metronome. Another important aspect of Pound’s literary career was his large promotion of other writers and artists. He persuaded Harriet Monroe to publish T. S. Eliot’s â€Å"The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,† He was also an early supporter of the Irish novelist James Joyce and helped him in publishing his work in literary magazines before they were published in book form. Pound praised other poets while they were still fairly unknown such as D. H. Lawrence, Robert Frost, and Ernest Hemingway. In this existing industry, two technologies cannot be implemented at the same time; as the productivity, worker performance could be decreased, and cost can be increased (Gavish et al. 2015). Therefore, the long-term strategy is prepared for recognizing the beneficial features of the MVP. The implementation plan should take appropriate amount of time before the implementation takes place. Long-term strategy is essential for approving the important part of plan that is incorporation of VR and AR into mining industrial works. Mission, Goals and Objectives for Long-term strategy The mission for long-term strategy is to iterate the product (MVP) with additional features so that viable business model can be presented. The goals are formulated from the strategy are mentioned as following: Provide continuous innovation into practice of mining industry Integrate VR and AR with mining industry so that working process in mining industry can be a part of sustainable processes From the stated goals, the objectives are identified that should be met after the long-term strategy implementation. The objectives are listed as following: To incorporate continuous innovation To plan according to sustainable goals Use Case for Long-term strategy Designed use case for long-term strategy is useful for determining the long-term project goals and incorporable features into the system. The CBA is prepared with including all costs and estimating all benefits from the strategy implementation. However, short-term and long-term strategy implementation cost-benefit analysis differs from each other as long-term strategy does not require maintenance cost; as final implementation is performed in first year. RD application will be powered by VR engine so that quality checking can be performed in virtual reality (Joyce and Paquin 2016). Safety checkups can be performed in augmented reality for setting high standard for safe and risk-free environment development. Product roadmap stated that roadmap decides about main stages that should be implemented. The minimal viable product should be online portal in the work process (Muhtaroglu et al. 2013). In this MVP, the application should be developed with AR and detailed safety analysis process. The VR should be developed for mobile application so that quality checking can be accomplished easily. The AR development can increase the productivity rate of workers. Integrations of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Virtual reality is quite efficient for quality analysis of the mining minerals from scientist end. The scientists have to either get to the minefield or site for performing research on particular mineral. Once, the research is conducted; there are often chances of disasters due to unstable mineral compounds, poisonous smells, and others (Ong and Nee 2013). Therefore, from virtual reality perspective, the research and development (RD) department can improve their work process with checking quality and present the outcomes to the mining authority. Furthermore, safety consideration is another priority for developers and workers. To certain cases, the natural disasters can cause resource loss, loss of expenditure, and loss of time (Wu et al. 2013). Safety consideration for workers is most important as AR can help in considering the portal based safety ensuring. Based on portal design and features, the emerging technologies are effective to input safety constraints, certain parameters, an d can provide detailed outcomes with safety recommendations. In mining industry, the VR and AR utilization can be identified as part of continuous innovation and development. Short-term strategy is recognized to be a planned yet controlled way to introduce two emerging technologies as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). In mining industry, it is expected to be quite difficult to incorporate two technologies in the first place (Kilara and Rhyne 2014). Therefore, short-term strategy initiates with planned way to incorporate VR into business model. Once, the VR technology is implemented; after some testing; the AR technology will be implemented if incorporation of VR is successful. Therefore, short-term strategy is aimed to identify system flaws and identify mitigation plans; before implementing the selected emerging technology (Ivanova 2014; Fleming and Measham 2015). Long-term strategy is recognized as another appropriate planned way to incorporate two emerging technologies in mining industry. Conclusion and Recommendations From above mentioned analysis, detailed discussion with use case and product roadmap design; it can be concluded that this start-up organization in mining industry can achieve more benefits from long-term strategy. The business product roadmap is prepared considering the working process for application development and online portal can be developed. The VR and AR implementation can improve the working process of mining industry along with appropriate level of developments. The VR and AR implementation can reduce the resource loss and certain issues such as low-quality minerals. However, as per bigger benefits estimation, long-term strategy is best fit. However, the recommendations are included in this report as following. For these recommendations, current customer requirements are more important than administrator design. The recommendations are: Mining industry can improve productivity along with better quality when AR can be implemented. Start-up organizations should utilize augmented reality in order to reduce risks and issues in some certain activities. The company profit structure should be modified as per gained benefits from the study. The safety environment should be provided to workers of the mining site.
