When Romeo and Juliet first met there was a fascination between them that continues throughout the entire play, although it is far more obvious at the beginning of the story. When they first met there was lots of flirting and Romeo plays words and refers to blushing pilgrims (his lips) and a shrine (her hands). After this meeting the feelings that they have for each other becomes deeper. Juliet is the sun, arise fair sun and kill the envious moon. Romeo is so in love with Juliet, he is comparing her to the goddess of the moon and saying that Juliet is far more beautiful. If they could not support themselves without their parents, then they may marry so they dont end up on the streets. There are still people committing suicide because of love. Some people can be so deeply in love that they are willing to die if their partner died because they see no point in living without them. Friends loyalties are, generally, to their friends and not to their parents. This could lead to messages and rumours being passed between the two partners form their friends. Also Love at first sight is not a common occurrence but it does happen. There are factors though, that makes the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet happening in today very unrealistic. In todays society, children would not necessarily have to marry someone they dont want to. Most parents dont want their children to rush into marriage at that age. Parents today are more comfortable with their children dating and family feuds still occur but are far less common. Marriage is no longer a lifetime commitment. Divorce is a common practise between couples who no longer want to be together for whatever reason. This means there is no real reason to commit suicide to escape a relationship you dont want to be in. Several of the key events, which make Romeo and Juliet a true tragedy, come back down to fate. It would be extremely difficult, or nearly impossible to find a drug that would make you appear dead. Effect of Zn Concentration on NiZnFe2O4 Nanoparticles CHAPTER-7 EFFECT OF Zn CONCENTRATION ON MAGNETIC AND DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF NiZnFe2O4 NANOPARTICLES 7.1 INTRODUCTION Ni (1-x) Zn (x) Fe2O4 (x=0.2, 0.4 and 0.6) nanoparticles are synthesized by using coprecipitation method. Zinc is a known metal, its role is important in the modification of ferrite properties by redistribution over the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the spinel lattice. Rath et al (2002) reported the effect of zinc substitution on lattice parameter and magnetic properties on Mn-Zn ferrites prepared by hydrothermal precipitation method. Arulmurugan et al (2005) studied the effect of zinc substitution on Co-Zn and Mn-Zn ferrite nanoparticles prepared by coprecipitaion method. This chapter discusses the effect of zinc concentration on structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of NiZnFe2O4 nanoparticles prepared by co-precipitation method. The detailed experimental procedure involved in the preparation of NiZn ferrite nanoparticles has been already reported in chapter IV. In this method three different compositions such as x=0.2, x=0.4 and x=0.6 were used in the chemical formula Ni (1-x) Zn(x) Fe2O4 to analyze the properties of the ferrite nanoparticles. 7.2 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION 7.2.1 X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis The average crystallite size ‘t’ and the lattice parameter ‘a’ were calculated from X-ray diffraction data as reported in the chapter –IV. The values of particle size and Lattice parameter of all samples are also tabulated in Tables 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3. The particle size decreased from 24 to 12nm with the increase of Zn concentration. The same behavior of decrease in particle size with the increase of zinc concentration was also observed for the samples sintered at 600 °C and 900 °C. The decrease in particle size due to the increase of zinc concentration was 26 to 20nm for sintered sample at 600 °C and 31 to 25 nm for sintered sample at 900 °C respectively. This variation of particle size with zinc concentration at the above mentioned sintering temperature of Ni Zn ferrites nano particles is shown in Fig.7.1. The above observation shows that the presence of zinc blocks the grain growth. The surface temperature affects the molecular concentration at the surface of the crystal, and hence, the crystal growth (Upadhyay et at 2004). The formation of Zn-ferrite is more exothermic as compared with the formation of Ni-ferrite (Navrotsky Kleppa 1968). Thus, the crystal surface temperature increases with addition of zinc, decreasing the molecular concentration at the crystal surface and hence, obstructing the grain growth. The effects of zinc concentration on structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of Ni-Zn ferrite nano particles were studied. Particle size decreased with the increase of concentration. This decreasing in particle size behavior was observed for all the categories of concentration variation at different sintering temperature levels. The effect of zinc concentration on particle size showed a reverse effect compared with the effect of sintering temperature (chapter-IV), in which the particle sizes increased with the increase of sintering temperature. The lattice parameter value for as prepared are increased from 8.33 to 8.37Ã… with the increase of zinc. For the samples sintered at 600 °C the lattice parameter value for lower zinc concentration (x=0.2) is 8.63Ã… and higher zinc concentration (x=0.6) is 8.66 Ã…. The similar behavior of increase in lattice parameter with zinc concentration is also observed as 8.64 to 8.68 Ã… in the samples sintered at 900 °C. This increase of lattice parameter with zinc concentration for all sintering temperatures of Ni Zn ferrites nano particles are also shown in Fig.7.2. The addition of Zn2+ in Ni-ferrite causes the Fe3+ ions to migrate from A site to B site. The larger ionic radius of zinc (0.82Ã…), compared with ferric ion (0.67 Ã…), makes the A site and thus the lattice expands, increasing the lattice parameter. A similar variation of particle size and lattice parameter with zinc content had been observed by Joshi Kulkarrni (1986) for Mg-Zn Ferrite. The variations of magnetic properties such as saturation magnetization (Ms), and coercivity (Hc) for different zinc concentrations (x = 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6) at particular sintering temperature were calculated from the hysteresis data and tabulated in Tables 7.4, 7.5 and 7.6. The Fig.7.4 reveals that the saturation magnetization (Ms) decreases with the increase of zinc concentration. The saturation magnetization value decreased from 29.73 to 6.98 emu/g with the increase of zinc concentration for as prepared samples. The saturation magnetization value for the 600 °C sintered samples at lower zinc concentration (x=0.2) was 32.78 emu/g and higher zinc concentration (x=0.6) was 25.80 emu/g. A similar behavior of decrease in saturation magnetization with zinc concentration was also observed in the samples sintered at 900 °C as 64.34 to 39.50 emu/g. This shows the weakening of A-B interaction, whereas B-B interaction changes from ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic state. The occurrence of minor decrease in saturation magnetization is also evidenced from the dielectric study, because it shows that there is a minor increase in dielectric constant. This reason leads to the conclusion that saturation magnetization variation with respect to concentration for 600 °C and 900 °C samples did not cause a rapid decrease in saturation magnetization like as prepared sample. Fig.7.5 shows that the coercivity values of NiZn ferrite nanoparticles decrease with the increase of zinc concentration. The coercivity values of as prepared nanoparticles decrease from 324.36 to 306.56 Gauss. Similarly the variation of coercivity values of nanocrystalline NiZn ferrite particles with increase of Zn concentration sintered at 600 °C and 900 °C are in the range of 347.31- 340.72 Gauss and 386.67-351.34 Gauss. This is due to the decreases of magneto crystalline anisotropy constant. The magneto crystalline anisotropy constant is negative for both Ni and Zn ferrites. The absolute value of magneto crystalline anisotropy constant larger for Ni ferrites than that of Zn ferrites (Verma et al 2000). The total anisotropy is equal to the sum of their individual anisotropy. So magneto crystalline anisotropy constant and hence coercivity decreases with the increase in Zn concentration. Also reasons behind the decrease in saturation magnetization and decrease in coercivity are c learly identified from the formation of smaller particle size even at the higher Zn concentration at all sintering temperatures. The variations of dielectric constant with zinc concentration for all samples are also shown in Fig. 7.8. For all as prepared samples, the dielectric constant value increased from 10.92 to 25.08 with the increase of zinc concentration. The dielectric constant value for the samples sintered at 600 °C in lower zinc concentration (x=0.2) was 15.33 and it increased to 32.86 at higher zinc concentration (x=0.6). A similar behavior of increase in dielectric constant with increase in zinc concentration was also observed in the samples sintered at 900 °C as 19.37 to 48.18. The variation of dielectric loss factor value with zinc concentration for all sintering temperatures is also shown in Fig. 7.9. For all as prepared samples the dielectric loss factor value increased from 0.59 to 1.36 with the increase of zinc concentration. For the samples sintered at 600 °C the dielectric loss factor value for lower zinc concentration (x=0.2) was 0.68 and at higher zinc concentration (x=0.6) it was 1.61. A similar behavior of increase in dielectric loss with increase in zinc concentration was also observed in the samples sintered at 900 °C as 1.34 to 2.14. In Ni-Zn ferrites Zn occupies [A] site and Ni occupies [B]site, while Fe occupies both [A] and [B] sites. When Zn2+ is added in the place of Ni2+, with increase in Zn composition x, some of the Fe3+ ions get converted into Fe2+ ions. This increases the hopping between Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions, thereby decreasing the resistance of the grain. This increases the probability of electrons reaching the grain boundary. Hence the polarization and the dielectric constant increase. The increase in zinc concentration obstructed the grain growth and decreased the particles size. The larger ionic radius of Zn, increased the lattice parameter values of NiZn ferrite nanoparticles with the increase of its concentration. The non magnetic property of zinc, decreased the saturation magnetization and coercivity values of NiZn ferrite nanoparticles. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor values also increased with the increase of zinc concentration due to the increase of probability of electrons reaching the grain boundary. Low value of particle size obtained at higher zinc concentration in the present work indicated that NiZn ferrite nano particles in lower nanometer scale could be obtained at higher zinc concentration.

Yes, it's part of culture, but to really appreciate it you have to have an ear for it. It's not my thing. To really get it, it has to be your thing.    The Musician: Not your thing? I am not arguing that teenagers like that don’t exist, because there are plenty of them out there, but it bothers me that one type of teenager has been able to spoil the image of all other teenagers. Personally I think that these stereotypes apply more to me because I am a male. In addition to being a male teenager, I also have noticed that people think negatively of me because I wear a longer hair style than what is typically expected in society. Some people grow long hair to show rebellion, or to be unique, but I wouldn’t classify myself into either of those categories, I simply enjoy having it more than short hair. But because of that, many members of society link certain stereotypes of male teenagers to me because I show long hair. I could be considered many different things including: rebellious, troubled, angry, arrogant, or any other sort of stereotype out there. How could anyone possibly claim to know all of these false accusations simply based on my age, and my gender? At times it can be bothersome when people take certain precautions around teenagers, because they believe that we are all reckless, and dangerous. Parents will cross to the opposite side of the street with their kids, people clear sidewalks when walking, other drivers tense up on the road, and all while this is happening, other people will keep one eye carefully watching, just to make sure that all of the rotten teenagers don’t do anything dangerous. I sometimes think that people see me and other teenagers as giant, shiny explosives that are about to detonate, so everyone else needs to distance themselves as much and as quickly as possible. Just because a teenager happens to be walking around outside, that should in no way trigger a response where people feel that it isn’t safe to be near teenagers. Although it does bother me, I can also see a point of view where I would do the same thing. If I saw someone outside that looked a little bit off-beat to me, I would most likely go a different path as well. However, that raises the question, why does society take in all of these stereotypes and live all of their lives believing false statements? All of it is ridiculous I believe. Anyone that knows me will be able to explain that I am the exact opposite of a stereotypical teenager, so no one should need to take precautions if they see me out somewhere. A stereotypical teenager would most likely be thought of being connected to alcohol, tobacco, and drugs in some way, shape, or form; I on the other hand do not do any of those things, and am strongly against them. Because I do not consider myself anywhere close to a stereotypical teenager, it does bother me when people mistake me for doing those types of activities. All of these common stereotypes don’t do any good for the people who actually work hard, and try to do something with their lives. For many people, stereotyping does more than just become a bothersome hassle. For a handful of teenagers, the effect of stereotyping makes them feel pressured into behaving like a stereotypical teenager. For example, some people do drugs and alcohol because they are expected to by society’s stereotypes, so someone may think, â€Å"Oh, I am a teenager now, I guess because other people are drinking then I have to as well. † I don’t even see peer pressure as that much of an issue here, people tend to start drinking or doing drugs voluntarily; more often than not, there isn’t peer pressure that is forcing them into doing something. And that creates an entire roundabout of madness. To simplify this; many people start acting like stereotypical teenagers, because they feel that they need to in order to be a â€Å"normal† teenager. But that in turn makes society cast out teenagers, when it is actually those same members of society who created these stereotypes for teenagers to follow. In reality, there are several statistics that illustrate a decline in teenage drug abuse, alcoholism, and teenage pregnancy, yet stereotypes still exist (Poole). Are all teenagers loud, obnoxious, rebellious, out of control, and up to no good? Obviously not, there is no way that every single teenager in the world could fit that description. And yet, society still labels every teenager in the world by a description very similar to that. The few teenagers that live a life similar to that have managed to destroy the image of every teenager that happens to be a good kid. It seems that hardworking, determined, and honest teenagers don’t have a place in the world anymore. They are out there, and ready to be noticed, but the rest of society has chosen to view them in the same manner as the bad crowds that exist in the teenage population. Quite strange, that the model teenager that is acceptable in society is not taken seriously. Why does society view superior teenagers that way? It is not only teenagers; it is everybody in the world. No person will ever be right in prejudicing someone, no matter who they are.

(6) Source A is an article from a magazine called Billboard, a US magazine on 3rd March 1956. It is a positive article for Elvis Presley as it promotes his success that he has achieved. The source states that he has six hit singles on the RCA Victor labels hit lit of top 25 best sellers. It also goes on to state that the two singles heartbreak hotel and I was the one is the labels number two best seller, behind Perry Comos juke box baby. From this information we can draw that Elvis Presley made a huge impact on popular music in the USA in 1955. To have six hit singles in the companys top 25 best sellers is a large percentage to the extent that he dominates the hit list and proves that he must have taken the US by storm and made his presence felt. Yet with all of the critics that he had during that time Elvis was still able to please his fans with the music they adored. The tone of the article is that of someone who has been entertained and is only full of positive praise when writing about him. The word hottest is used to describe Elvis, which means that he must have been the topic of a lot of peoples discussions, as he appeared a controversial character also. Even though the headline says Presley hot as $1 pistol, which probably would been to many as a negative remark, $1 was worth more in the 1950s compared to what it is worth now and wouldnt be a disgrace to be compared alongside. Elvis Presley must have provided something different to his fans compared to all of the other artists that were around at that time, as with all of the critics that he had, he must have had a lot of fans to succeed as an artist. This source in my opinion is a reliable one as it, compared to a lot of reviews, gives a different point of view from the negative view to the positive one about Elvis music. The reason why I say this is because this is a magazine, which is probably, read a lot of people which will spark off reactions mostly positive ones but also negative as some people didnt like him in the first, let alone if he was getting positive publicity. 2) Study Source B, C and D. Do sources C and D support the evidence of Source B about the impact of Elvis Presley? (8) Sources B, C and D seem to contradict each other as source B contains different newspaper articles describing Elvis Presleys appearance on the Milton Berle Show on NBC-TV on 5th June 1956 which are completely negative. Compare Source B to sources C and D where source C states that the show topped Phil Silvers Sergeant Bilko in the ratings for the first time all season, which is a positive as the show also included Elvis Presley. Source D also contradicts the negative views of source B, as there is a photograph of Elvis performing on stage at the show, where all of the fans look ecstatic to see Elvis Presley perform and from their facial expressions, quite well too. Source B contains 3 newspaper articles from different newspapers describing Elvis Presleys performance at the Milton Berle show, all of which do as much as they can to write something negative about his performance and ability. Firstly The New York Times states that Elvis Presley has no singing ability. Secondly The New York Journal also comments on Elvis voice and also the lyrics of his songs, describing them as unintelligible and his voice inadequate. It goes on to comment on physical and that it is probably too difficult to describe in terms suitable to a family newspaper. Finally the Daily News takes on another level in saying that music has reached its lowest depths from the emergence and antics of Elvis Presley. The article then states that he gave an exhibition that was suggestive and vulgar. Such words like this represent the fact that these journalists opinions on Elvis were created before the performance at the Milton Berle show and this probably triggered their emotions even more as Elvis was getting cheered and attention which was the complete opposite to what these critics wanted for Elvis. Source C is a piece of writing from variety, an American television and radio magazine, June 1956. It explains how the Milton Berle show was a success and doesnt mention surprisingly anything negative about Elvis Presley, but also does not mention anything positive. The fact though that from what ratings suggest the show was a huge hit, means that Elvis had a part to play in this happening and although this is not stated in writing, it is clear from source D that the fans were enjoying Elvis Presleys performance just as much as he was himself. Source D is a photograph of Elvis performing at the show and in my view the reaction of the fans seems positive and that they are enjoying his performance an actually seeing him in the flesh. Elvis seems quite confident in the photo and this usually occurs when a person is getting positive attention. If Elvis was getting negative attention then his self confidence would have been drained and he would find it hard to complete his performance but the complete opposite is happening according the photo and this seems to have spurred Elvis on. From all of the support thought that Elvis is getting, which can also affect someone in a negative way as they get too excited and loosen too much, he is still in full concentration as he committed to performing to the best of his ability. The photograph also shows how most of the fans were young teenage girls, who were trying to reach out to touch their idol, which shows how much they basically worshiped him. From this I can learn that Elvis had a huge impact on young teenage girls especially when he producing his rock and roll style music, as they were fond of the characteristics that he possessed. Sources C and D do not support the evidence of source B about the impact of Elvis Presley. Source B is a collection of articles, which represent anger for the character that has stood up to so many challenges without backing down, and this annoys people, especially people like the journalists who wrote those articles. The journalists in that source are representing their views on Elvis as a whole and not just based on his performance at the show which is clear as such words as vulgar are used to describe Elvis, which is out of proportion. There could be an argument known that even though Source B is useful in showing that there were a mixture of views on Elvis Presleys music, they only represent three articles whereas the other two sources represent a larger majority of positive representation. Source C shows that with Elvis performance included, the Milton Berle shows topped Phil Silvers Sergeant Bilko in the ratings for the first time all season. Source D shows a very large majority of teenagers, especially girls, showing their appreciation towards their idol. Sources C and D, especially D provide information that suggest there is not only one view on Elvis Presley in America, which is totally negative, that there are a mixture of views on Elvis music. 3) Study Sources E and F. How useful are these sources as evidence of the impact of Elvis Presley in the mid 1950s? (10) Sources E and F are another example of how US society had conflicting views about the character of Elvis Presley. Source E gives three examples of quite powerful people views on Elvis. The first is of the congressman Emmanuel Celler speaking in January 1957. He describes how rock and roll has given great opportunities to coloured people, but the music of Elvis Presley and his animal gyrations violate all that I know to be in good taste. Emmanuel Celler clearly doesnt approve of Elvis Presleys music and his mannerisms and this is shown as such phrases as animal gyrations are used to describe Elvis, which is quite harsh to say as he is comparing Elvis to an animal, but you can see that his emotions were probably caught up when saying that. A congressman such as Cellers position in society is very high especially in the United States and a lot of the public would have listened to his views and then either agreed or disagreed with him. This speech could be seen as a positive as the way he is talking suggests that he is not racist, as it seems that he is not using the fact that Elvis Presley approves of coloured against him but just simply does not like his character. The second is from a member of the Ku Klux Klan speaking in 1956. Clearly from the speech that this member has made suggests that he despises Elvis and would rather see him dead than alive. The member says weve set up a twenty man committee to do away with this cannibalistic, negro-loving rock and roller. Such words as cannibalistic and negro-loving are hardly surprising coming from a KKK member but the fact that he is able to confess these feelings in a speech is frightening for Elvis. Elvis Presley most definitely knew that he was going to get a lot hostile reactions from the view that he was there to accept and embrace the coloured and not be against them as they so wished he would be. These are the kind of speeches that made Elvis more determined though to prove wrong those who criticised him. Finally the third is a speech made by Billy Graham, an evangelical preacher speaking in 1957. He said that I would not let my daughter cross the street to see Elvis Presley. This reaction from Billy Graham could have been for a number of reasons as Elvis Presley was quite a controversial character but I think the most important factor here is the impact that Elvis Presley had on teenagers in the US. At the time when this speech was made, which was 1957, this was the time when Elvis took his solo career to another level in terms of him dominating the late 1950s charts, according to source F. Billy Graham was an evangelical preacher which meant that he was totally against things like promiscuity and this was what Elvis regarded as one of his less important issues, which leads for Billy Graham to dislike everything about him as Elvis did most things that Billy Graham was against. It could be that Billy Graham knew of Elvis Presleys influence on teenagers and was furious that his child could have been a victim of this and rebelled against him, as this was also part of Elvis character. The fact that Billy Graham mentioned his daughter in his speech shows that he was maybe frightened because of the way so many teenagers had taken to Elvis Presley and that they were the main group that bought his records. Source F is a list of the top five singles of the year 1955, 1956 and 1957. This is a good source as it shows the rise of Elvis Presley clearly in terms of record sells. In 1955 Elvis did not manage to get in to the top five singles of the year according to the list, which was because he had just signed his first contract at that time with RCA Records and was working his way to the top. In 1956 though Elvis made himself famous with claiming four of the top five singles of the year which was a great achievement considering all of the criticism that was thrown at him along with all of the pressure that was put on to turn out a success. Elvis then claimed three of the five top singles of the year 1957 and carried on his success in the US which shows a great deal of dominance of the music industry. Sources E and F are considerably different in terms of evidence of the impact of Elvis Presley in the mid 1950s. The reason why I say this is because Source E gives Elvis bad publicity, with three individuals individually talking about how Elvis Presley has had a negative impact on the music industry and also US society as a whole. On the other hand though Source F sheds a positive light on nothing but Elvis record sells and show that the majority of US society must have liked Elvis Presleys music at least as in 1956 and 1957 he has clearly dominated the charts. It is interesting to se that all of the speeches made by the three individuals in Source E were in 1956 and 1957, but not in 1955. The reason for this was because Elvis had not emerged fully on the scene yet so therefore there was no need for those three particular people to feel threatened in any way. For example the Ku Klux Klan member speech was in 1956 at a time when Elvis had four of the top five singles of that year and he was threatened and worried by the views of Elvis towards coloured people as it could damage more people joining his group and instead taking the other option and agreeing with Elvis views on the subject of coloured people. The sources tend to be full of emotion and may not always be accurate or true but they are nonetheless useful in explaining the impact of Elvis Presley in the mid 1950s. These sources may not be accurate because they are quotes from a very long time ago and there has always been the problem of certain people editing speeches to support a certain argument. Source E shows the negative impact Elvis had on US society whereas source F help explain how Elvis rose up from not being in the charts in 1955, dominating the charts in the consecutive years of 1956 and 1957.
